Our Why

Support for Sport are committed to helping sportsmen/women improve and maintain their mental wellbeing. We passionately believe that mental wellbeing is as important to an athlete as technical skill, tactical awareness and physical robustness.

Our Director, Joe Dixon, has been involved in High Performance Tennis for the last 12 years. During that time, Joe has been fortunate enough to be involved day to day in the Sport he loves, playing a part in young athletes' journeys whilst travelling the world.

However, as amazing and productive as Sport can undoubtedly be, it can be challenging for players/parents and coaches for the following reasons:

  • Linking self–worth to Performance
  • Comparing yourself to others
  • Overworking and a lack of work/life balance
  • Lack of self–esteem and self confidence

Support for Sport was created to help people realise that it is normal to have ups and downs in Sport. We are here to provide a support network in which people can deal with these momentum shifts and flourish, be happy and healthy whilst embracing all the challenges that competitive Sport brings.
